A varicocele can lead to infertility due to low sperm production or decrease in the quality of the sperms. It can also shrink the testicles. Varicoceles are common as they can be found in 15 percent of the adult male population and around 20 percent of adolescent males. They are more common in males aged around 15 to 25.
The good news is that varicoceles are treatable. Dozens of reports have been published demonstrating the benefit of varicocele surgery to improve sperm counts.
